PRO BONO

Introduction

Throughout the country, FPA chapters are working with community partners to assist those with the greatest need for and the least access to the power of financial planning. A majority of the FPA's nearly 100 chapters have active pro bono programs. These programs aim to serve people without access to financial planners. Populations include but are not limited to low-moderate income individuals, inmates, young adults, military, victims of domestic violence, and homeless. Planners assist clients with medical debt, credit/debt management challenges, job loss, retirement, and general financial planning concerns. Volunteers across the country are donating thousands of hours of their time. All are working not only to help the vulnerable members of our communities, but to invent a new form of community service - pro bono financial planning. The FPA of CNY has established a Pro Bono Committee in order to further this vision and strengthen our presence within the community.

Our Mission Statement

The Financial Planning Association of Central New York is dedicated to giving back to its community by providing free, objective financial planning services to underserved individuals and families who may not otherwise have access to qualified financial professionals.

Volunteering as an FPA pro bono planner is a great way to give back, build professional skills and strengthen ties with your community and fellow FPA members. If you are interested in assisting with our efforts, or have a pro bono opportunity that you would like to share, please contact Jen Spagnola at admin@fpacny.org.
